Behind the Scenes on a Dog Photoshoot
How we shot my new brand video for A Northern Heart Photography

When new clients come to me or buy a gift voucher, there are usually quite a few questions they have up front - how does it all work? Can my dog be photographed if they won’t sit still? What actually happens on a shoot?
To answer these questions and show behind the scenes on how I photograph dogs, last month I headed to Otley Chevin Forest Park with videographer Sam Daffern, dogs Kit and Betsy (and their owners Selina and Emily) and my good friend Faye Hatton. Being the subject of a video shoot (or just in front of the camera at all) was quite a new experience to me but we got some great footage and this is now being edited into a short video for the website which I’m very excited about!
For now, here are some the behind the scenes shots of me at work (thank you Faye) and a couple of finished portraits which hopefully show the magic of creating keep-forever photographs from the reality of what that looks like on the day. It can be easy to forget that behind every business there are regular people who bring it to life, so here’s the proof - dog photography is not for the elite, and it doesn’t involve anything huge or complicated - its simply there for everyone who loves and wants to remember their dog.
